Plenary sessions are the meetings that are held in the Siambr (Chamber) and are attended by all Assembly Members. You can see videos of some of my Plenary contributions here.I am currently a member of two Assembly committees, namely the Enterprise and Business, and the Environment and Sustainability Committees.
The remit of this committee is broad, covering local, national and international issues. Its enquiries and reports are topical and include numerous Ministerial portfolio’s. With a background in education, I am especially interested in our ongoing enquiry into apprenticeships, as well as discussing Young People Not in Education or Training. In this current economic climate, it is vital that we work to create the best possible chances for young people and to ensure we have the skills for modern day markets.
On a more local focus, the full committee has produced a report on the Regeneration of Town Centres, which will be of interest across Wales; and a Task and Finish group has explored influencing the future of modern procurement policy. We have also concentrated on Social Enterprises, the Active Travel White Paper and Integrated Public Transport.
