The Llanelli constituency is a mixture of both industrial and rural communities extending from Hendy in the East down to the coast and then along the coast to Kidwelly. It reaches up the Gwendraeth valley to Tumble and across to Tycroes. It includes the largest town in Carmarthenshire Llanelli which is famous for its proud rugby tradition and is a centre of tinplate production. In the mid 20th century Llanelli was the largest town in the world where more than half the population spoke a Celtic language (Welsh). Llanelli is now home to Tinopolis the UK.s largest independent television production company producing over 2,500 hours of broadcast television. Over the past decade the constituency has become well known as a centre for leisure and tourism with attractions that include Pembrey Country Park, the Millennium Coastal path, The National Wetlands Centre Parc Howard Museum and the development of a national Hunt racecourse at Ffos Las near Trimsaran.
